Aunt Carolyn

We celebrated Aunt Carolyn’s birthday this week. (I went ahead and edited out the candles, but rest assured they said “29”:)

We love it when Aunt Carolyn comes. She likes to spend several weeks with us during the summer so that she doesn’t have to endure the blistering Nevada heat. And we welcome her with open arms!

Carolyn is, first of all, fun to be around. She tells great stories and has a great sense of humor. Also, she’s willing to jump in and do whatever is asked. So far on her visit she has worked cattle, sprayed thistles, watched kids, made lunch, ran after parts, ran after kids, watched ballgames, night A.I.ed, and a myriad of other jobs.

But maybe, just maybe, her favorite activity so far this summer has been the trail ride she went on with Clint, Marci, Ashtyn, and several other friends. I believe it had been over 20 years since Carolyn last rode a horse, but it all came back to her in no time. She was even able to walk normally the next day!

I’m not sure if the trail ride will become a weekly, yearly, or once-every-twenty-year tradition, but it just goes to show another great thing about Carolyn…she’s always up for whatever you throw her way.

Have a great weekend!
