First Day of School

I’ve known it’s been coming since the end of May, but somehow, the first day of school sneaked up on me.

Good thing these whipper snappers keep track of such things. They were ready and raring to go.

Even Kelly seemed to know it was a special day as she jumped in line with the rest of them.

It’s hard to believe I now have a high schooler…and a middle schooler…and my baby is a fourth grader. Where does the time go?! It seems like I just graduated high school a year or two ago myself, so how can it be possible that I have a freshman. Crazy.

It seems like only yesterday my babies were these guys’ age. Speaking of these guys, what a couple of cuties! They’re on Papa Jim’s school bus and it looks like they’re ready to be educated. I can’t wait to hear all about their day.

But perhaps the highlight of my morning was taking a picture of Rhett ad Ashtyn getting on the school bus. They have never ridden the bus to school in the mornings, so I was really excited to get it captured on film. Rhett and Ashtyn, on the other hand, were not impressed that their mother/aunt was going to walk out and photograph them. So Ashtyn made me take the picture from the kitchen window. HA! I so wanted to rap on the window and say “Wait a second, guys! Turn around and smile for momma,” but they were too fast for me. Lucky squirts.

I just pray their day goes well and that they have a good time. If you have a second today, you might send up a quick prayer, too, for all the students, teachers, cooks, aides, bus drivers, coaches, parents, grandparents, etc. who work hard to care for our kids. It takes a village to raise a child, they say. May God bless them!

Have a great day!
