We put up the last of our sweet corn yesterday. I tried a different approach this year, and I have to say I loved it.
It all started when Abby was looking for something to do, and I said, “You could go pick a row of sweet corn to freeze.” And that’s exactly what she did. She picked, shucked, cooked, and bagged the corn and it only took an hour or so.
Amazing! What a novel idea! Instead of spending an entire day “doing corn,” we could attack it a little at a time and it wouldn’t seem like a big deal. (Especially if someone else does all the work. Lol.) So that’s what we did. Grandma Martha came over one day and we did a couple rows, the kids and I did a row or two another day, and by the end of the week we’d put up all the corn without breaking a sweat.
And now we should have enough sweet corn to last us through the winter. What a good feeling.
Have a great day!
