The kids and I went with Will the other day to help tag calves. We started doing this a year or so ago and really enjoy it.
Rhett and Matt’s job is to find an untagged calf and rope it. Then Will comes along and tags it.
Abby and I help out, too. I record the information and Abby finds the appropriate tag.
Grandma Martha comes, too, and she is the Emergency Crew. She is there in case one of the momma cows decides Will should not be tagging her baby. She’s also there with an extra pair of gloves or anything else we might need.
It’s really a pretty smooth process.
We’re heading back over this afternoon and Abby thinks she might be able rope one today, so wish us luck!
