Vacation Part 3 by: Lindsay Hays

The last thing I have to tell about is Yosemite National park in California.

This is a picture while we were driving into Yosemite.

We walked a couple of hiking trails. The first trail went up to Dog Lake.

Then Dad, Jessica, Cody, and I climbed up this huge rock that was up really high.

This kind of shows how high up we were. There was a wild fire around so we couldn’t see very far. Dad, Cody, and I went a little further. We thought about climbing up the dome thing that you could see in the picture with the 3 of us kids, but we decided not to risk it. Lol. It was really cool up there, even though I got scared a couple of times.

We went to see the giant sequoias. This picture kind of represents the size of these trees. Dad is 6’ 3”, and this isn’t a big sequoias tree comparatively speaking.

This tree is huge! It’s called the Giant Grizzly. One of its limbs is the size of a full grown tree. The tree is 209 ft. tall and 96 ft. in circumference at the base! It was really cool seeing the giant trees.

I said earlier that there were wild fires close by, which made the park really smoky. Well imagine walking out of the restaurant and seeing 7-8 fire trucks pull in. It was crazy. It looked like they were just coming in from the wild fires and getting something to eat, but it was still a little close for comfort. We stayed in a little town close to Oakhurst, and when we woke up in the morning we had ashes on the deck and car! The locals thought it was normal to have a fire close by! The fire is still going on and has burned 91,000 acers and is only 38% contained.

This is a gorgeous picture of the Valley. We decided that this would be the perfect spot to park our wagon had we been here 150 years ago.

On one of our hikes we passed this lady with 5-6 pack mules. It was really cool!

This water fall was cool to see. There were also good climbing rocks that we climbed around on.

And then we have this picture. I had to put this in. I think it speaks for itself. Lol!

I’ll leave with this picture of a wild flower. There is so much beauty around the world and right where we live. We just have to take the time to notice it.

We had a great time on vacation, but it was nice to get back home.

Hope you have a great Monday!

  1. Looks like a great time. Too bad about the fires and smoke. Does Cody not know you lick an ice cream cone not dive in!
